Service to the African-American Community - #1 of 3, African-Americans in Medicine

Many African-Americans in Cincinnati have answered the call to serve and to improve the conditions of the community. This February, the Main Library will host a series of programs that spotlight people who used their talent and skills to help others in need. No registration required.

African Americans in Medicine:
The story of African American doctors has been one of both incredible achievement and deep seated discrimination. Historically, African-American doctors have face barriers to educational opportunities and advancement in their careers. Many have overcome such obstacles as getting specialized training in order to care for members of the black community. Join Dr. Charles Dillard, a longtime Walnut Hills resident, who followed his father into medicine and set up his practice here in the Queen City. He will discuss African-Americans in medicine in the Cincinnati area, past and present.
